Sorry, my Spanish is very poor but I hope you can help me anyway! Feel free to answer in Spanish though, I understand better than I write. And there is always Google Translate... I have a Phoenix roebelenii outside on the terrace and now it does not look so well. I had a closer look today and it looks like some kind of infestation: The fronds are no longer fresh looking, they are kind of dull and starting to dry at the ends as well. So what is it and what can I do to get rid of it? And I don't mean the palm tree... ¡Gracias!
My Spanish - a combination of lessons some 25 years ago and Google Translate!
My wife is Gibratarian, she speak inglish, I have worked in Gibraltal´s Botanical Garden, but I have not learn inglish enough
I had something similar that was identified as "unapsis", but I´m not sure. / If any of you needs it, I can help translating.
Hmmmm... gracias pero no es unaspis. It could be some kind of scale but I see nothing moving around. Scale is so disgusting! I had it on my grapevine i Sweden. Yick! I'm thinking of cutting off a frond and take it to a garden center. I'm sure they'll be pleased about me taking a pest or disease to them.
Pero si es un Coccidae y su tratamiento podras hacerlo con Clorpirifos 48% a 2 cc por 1 litro soaking the plant for quick effect and paraffinic oil, slower but less aggressive http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coccidae
Today I cut one frond of and took it to the Viveros Laynez, Arroyo de la Miel. The very helpful personnell said that it just need more water and some fertilization once a month. I'm so happy it's not some kind of bug of disease! Thank you all!
